Fox Galleries now represents Bart Sanciolo, a Sicilian-born artist who emigrated to Australia in 1968. Sanciolo maintains strong cultural links with Italy in his ongoing artistic practice.

Sanciolo received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from RMIT in 1976. He was awarded his first major public commission the following year, a freestanding bronze high-relief depicting Dante’s Divine Comedy, impressive both in scale and craftsmanship. Sanciolo has completed several public and private commissions throughout his forty-year career.

Primarily a sculptor and painter, Sanciolo develops unique interpretations of the human form and the environment as subject matter. Sanciolo’s work explores intuitive relationships between line, form and design, resulting in contemporary interpretations in response to classical inclinations.

Sanciolo’s work is available in the stockroom, and will be exhibited in the forthcoming group exhibition, Party of Special Things, at Fox Galleries in January 2019.
