Congratulations to Nigel Sense for being selected as finalist for the 2020 Collie Art Prize with his work ‘Saturday Night on the Turps’ (2019).

This years Collie Art Prize explores the theme of Identity. In Sense’s social commentary he explores the regulation of social media, ownership rights over digital content and the presentation of life and travel that we see in our social media feeds. The symbols in Sense’s work are a language constructed from meaningful encounters in his own life and travel. Employing a playful disruption of the masks we wear, Sense ponders whether, as a society, we can function without them.

Nigel Sense is a graduate of the University of Wollongong. His work is frequently selected for major awards; most recently: Salon De Refuses (Finalist, 2019), Mosman Art Prize (Finalist, 2018), Black Swan Art Prize (Finalist, 2017), Mosman Art Prize (Finalist, 2017) and the Kilgour Art Prize (Finalist, 2017).
