Congratulations to Mark Dustin for being selected for the 2018 Collins Place Gallery Summer Salon. His work Hwasong-12 (2018) will be shown at Collins Place Gallery from 1 December 2018 – 31 January 2019.
The Summer Salon promises to be a vibrant and colourful celebration of contemporary “art made now.” Prizes will be awarded by industry professionals, and the exhibition will be on display within the Collins Place thriving retail precinct, that attracts national and international visitors to the gallery. This year’s Summer Salon judges are Dr Jacqueline Healy (Director, Museum of Medical History, University of Melbourne, Board Member National Trust) Shane Jones (Artist), and Deborah Klein (Artist).
Hwasong-12 (2018) was shown at Dustin’s exhibition The Unstable Image at Fox Galleries in July 2018. The exhibition engaged primarily with the place of the image as central to an enforced shared experience of a wider perceived reality, and one that is fundamentally interconnected with the artificial.
Dustin is the Head of the Drawing & Printmaking Department at the Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland. He has been a finalist in The New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Awards, Geelong Acquisitive Print Awards and The North Shore City Art Awards.
